Experiment for Music Panel

In this experiment, we will work with the Create Sounds panel to learn how the Tempo, Range and Frequency affect the sound bites. The goal of the experiment is to understand the affect and be able to change the settings to get the sounds we are striving to achieve. For Example, what affects does the Turtle and Racehorse have when you slide the bar from left to right? How about the note symbols at the bottom of the Create Sounds Panel? What happens when you change those values?

Items needed for this Experiment:

  • Scribbler 2 Robot
  • Charged Batteries
  • Robotics Notebook for recording your findings
  • Computer with the S2 Program Maker installed

Steps:

  1. Connect your Scribbler 2 Robot to your computer and make sure the Scribbler 2 is powered on
  2. Create a new Program and insert a Music Tile. The Create Sounds Panel will automatically open.
  3. Select the Dixie soundbite by left clicking on it.
  4. Change the values of each of the 3 settings below and record the changes in the soundbite when played.
    1. Adjust the Playback Tempo (faster and then slower)
    2. Adjust the Duration of the Soundbite (increase and then decrease)
    3. Adjust the Frequency of the Soundbite (increase and then decrease)
